Influence and the Process of Leadership
In my last post I talked about rising up as a leader, I believe leadership is an important skill set to have because you never know when you might need to step up in an organization or if you simply want to start your own movement. I might not be an influential leader (yet) but initially I aspire to be one. If you’re a leader in a organization please don’t hesitate to leave me a tip.
To be a leader you must be influential and be an influence to your community. But where does this phase of influence start? And how do leaders become great influencers?

This video is my favorite example of leadership. The guy in the video starts to dance in the middle of the field alone (he looks ridiculous). As he dances he starts to gain one follower, then another follower, and soon he creates a giant party. My point is, in order to be a leader and become an influence you have to believe in yourself and sometimes look ridiculous in the process. The movement simply starts with one follower and the process begins from there.
The process is something that you (and me) need to be patient about, gen-y loves now, now, now. But you need to respect the process.
How do you build a following? Well you jump into the community and start engaging, doing, connecting, etc. Our great leaders before us had to build a following without the internet. We have the ability to reach millions right in front of us, but it wont serve any purpose if we don’t try to use it. The ability to start a movement is right in front of us.

What are your thoughts of the movement started in the video?
